Accessibility Statement

Kothlis Fashion is a small, founder-led plus-size boutique based in Palm Bay, Florida. We want every person who lands on kothlis.com — at any age, on any device, with any assistive tool — to be able to read, shop, and reach us with the same ease.

Our commitment

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across the site. That covers four big buckets: content you can perceive, controls you can operate, copy you can understand, and code that's robust enough for screen readers, voice tools, and keyboards to interpret.

What we've built so far

  • Skip-to-content link on every page so keyboard users can jump past the header straight into the page content.
  • Visible focus rings on every interactive element — links, buttons, cart, search, filters — so you always know where you are on the page.
  • Semantic structure — proper landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), heading levels, and aria-current on the active navigation link.
  • Descriptive alt text on product imagery and labels on every form control.
  • Color contrast tuned to our cream-and-espresso palette so body copy reads cleanly in any light.
  • Keyboard navigation through the full site — menu, cart drawer, search, filters, size guide modal, and image zoom all open and close without a mouse.
  • Screen-reader compatibility tested against VoiceOver (iOS, macOS) and NVDA (Windows).
  • Resizable text up to 200% without breaking layout, and a viewport that works on phones, tablets, and desktop.

What we're still working on

Accessibility isn't a project with a finish line. The areas we're actively improving right now:

  • Captions and transcripts on any video content we add.
  • Form error messaging — clearer, in-line, and announced to screen readers.
  • Color contrast pass on secondary buttons and footer text where our champagne accent gets close to the WCAG floor.
  • Reduced-motion support — respecting the prefers-reduced-motion setting on every animation.

We read every message ourselves. We'll respond within one business day and treat accessibility reports as priority fixes, not feature requests.

How we test

Every theme update goes through automated checks (axe-core, Lighthouse) plus manual keyboard and screen-reader review on the highest-traffic templates: homepage, product, collection, cart, and checkout entry.

Third-party tools

Some parts of the storefront — payments (Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, PayPal, Klarna), email signup forms, and review widgets — are hosted by third parties. We use their most accessible default settings and report issues upstream when we find them.
